Dusting off the blog…

March 11th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

After an hour on the phone with my web hosting company retrieving a lost password and cleaning up thousands of rows of spam comments, I’m revisiting my blog. I’ve been experiencing many life changes and will do a better job of documenting them…

Hamlet’s Book Party

August 15th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Last night, a group of old coworkers / friends got together to celebrate the release of the book Notes from the New World: The Making of Second Life. The writer and our friend, Wagner James Au, who we mostly call either James or Hamlet (I call him Hamster), welcomed us to his place, fed us amazing pork products and sushi, and signed a few books.

As a member of the “acknowledgments,” I’d like to say thanks to James for being an amazing friend for the past few years. I also find it refreshing that the Lindens, the MoU’ers, and everyone once in that circle keep in touch to talk about the Metaverse. Was very glad to see Kathleen Craig, Daniel Terdiman, Catherine Smith, Jeska and Steve Linden, James and Jenn. xoxo

<3 Being Single on Facebook

August 09th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I just updated my Facebook relationship status this past week. I went from “not having a status” to “single”. While I’ve always thought not having a status was safer and more appropriate, I think I made the right decision. So far the negatives (ads saying “29 and alone again?”) have been out-weighed by the congratulatory and “I hear you’re single” messages, which are a reminder that I don’t have to date this guy.

Facebook is a valid virtual community and an honest reflection of my life and friends. I use it to plan parties and camping trips, network for business reasons, see photos of friends who no longer live near me, and keep in touch in general. Therefore, letting people know I’m single on Facebook is just honest. If I get into another relationship, updating that status won’t be a question, a debate, or an offense.

Running the 5K

August 04th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

I ran the 5K yesterday in lieu of a Half or Full Marathon, which I did last year. It was actually a lot of fun–a whole different game than long distance running. I placed 65 overall, 16th as a woman, and 15th in my division (with 500 actual "runners" and about 500 walkers/joggers). My adorable cousin, Kyle McCarthy, from Long Beach, NY also ran the 5K. It was his first race and I believe he is now a converted runner.

My time was around 23 minutes, with 7:28 miles. I <3 running. Oh, and the song I played as I crossed the finish line was "Touch me I’m going to scream" by My Morning Jacket, on their new album Evil Urges.

True Love and Craigslist

July 30th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

Oh Craig Newmark , you are my muse, my beautiful chubby cupid. Do you remember that time we ate pancakes together for that Bay to Breakers brunch at your girl’s house? I do. And there are some things I haven’t told you. For one, you’ve gotten me every apartment I’ve found in San Francisco. Second, you’ve helped me find a job at least twice and have been responsible for numerous interviews. Finally, your personals section is probably the best source of online dating I’ve ever seen. While I’m currently in a relationship, seeing random posts like this reminds me that are many, many fish in the sea. Thank you for the jobs, the housing/apartments, and for everything behind the "you must be 18" warning. I love you!

Just getting started…gimme a break.

June 24th, 2008 | Category: Uncategorized

OK, so maybe you’ve noticed that the site is partially in Italian. It’s because I stole a theme from someone Italian. Also, the RSS feed doesn’t work, there are no real posts, contacts, or cool photos. I’ll get that taken care of soon.

I am proud of myself, however, for: 1) getting the crystaltech guy to help me install wordpress as a content management system (thanks, dude), 2) installing and modifying a theme, and 3) setting up flickr to assist in photo-blogging from my iphone, which was previously incapable of sending email. I did this all in about 5 hours.

Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback. It will get better, I promise. ; )
